QUANG BINH

Quang Binh, the narrowest land of the country, is a both mountainous and coastal province of North Central Vietnam, sharing a border with Laos to the west. Quang Binh province has many rivers and a coastline of 110 kilometers long. Its coast bears nice beaches of fine golden sand, fringed by green forests of Scot-pines. Quang Binh Province is best known for its Phong Nha Cave, the largest and the most beautiful cave in Vietnam.

Phong Nha Caves

This complex of 14 caves is situated in a region of limestone mountains in Ke Bang, 50 km from Dong Hoi Town. Phong Nha Caves are remarkable for its 7729 meters of passageways with a lot of magical stalactites and stalagmites. The caves and the grottoes are from 10 to 40 meters high. The deeper one penetrates, the  more mysterious the natural aspects of the caves are.

Recently, a group of geology and geography scientists from Britain and Vietnam has studied Phong Nha Caves. Highly specialized instruments and techniques allowed the researchers to go 4,500 meters down into the caves. The expedition reported that Phong Nha Caves are some of the few caves in the world to be so deep, large and so wonderful. It is an attractive landmark for visitors and explorers. Travelling within the caves is by boat and on foot.
