Health and safety precautions for travelers

A small number of rural areas in Vietnam may be infected with malaria. Make sure you are well-prepared for a first-aid kit by consulting your doctor. We recommend the following vaccinations: polio, tetanus, yellow fever, typhoid, Japanese encephalitis. You should have solutions for stomachaches, headaches, and such in your personal kit. Make sure wounds are disinfected and bandaged to prevent infection. If you have been bitten by an animal, seek medical attention. Make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen with you, as the sun shines over half of the day throughout the country.

The COVID-19 Emergency Decree will end on 30 September 2022, and all travel restrictions related to the pandemic will be removed. The law requires you to carry your passport at all times; health insurance is highly recommended. In large cities, there are reliable medical facilities. There is a doctor on call in all major hotels. Major cities do not have malaria. If you're traveling to remote regions, you may want to consider vaccinations against typhoid, tetanus and hepatitis.
