MAI CHAU

It is a wonderful scenery of Mai Chau to see it from the pass Cun. The district lies in a green valley of paddy fields dotted with rows of stilt houses of the same size and shape. Mai Chau Valley is mostly populated by the White Thais, one of the ethnic minorities of Vietnam. Their stilt houses are made from hard wood, standing about 1.5 m above the ground, and nicely decorated.
Guests are usually invited by the host to sit on a mat spread on the floor to drink homebrewed rice wine (ruou can), and if it is at night time, traditional folk songs, dances and gong music will be performed to treat their guests.
