AN GIANG


    

The province of An Giang is located in the southwestern part of South Vietnam and bordered by Cambodia  to the west. Different from other provinces in the Mekong Delta region, beside the low-lying land for the cultivation of rice,  An Giang consists of a narrow mountainous area with a group of seven mountains. The province has been famous for the tradition in mulberry growing, silkworm raising and silk making. There are some 17 ethnic groups of Vietnam living in the area, they are with different cultures, beliefs and traditions. Its capital, Long Xuyen, is one of the most beautiful cities in the Mekong Delta and is worth a visit.

Tiger Islet


From Long Xuyen City, Visitors embark on Hau River to visit Tiger Island, more specially Hoa Hung village, the native village of President Ton Duc Thang. In the past this was a region of rushes and reeds that was the done of Tigers and panthers. After many years of accumulation of the silt of the Hau river this fertile island was formed and then men began to establish communities, but they still call this island by the name of Tiger.On the island there is a wooden house in middle of the garden abundant in fruit trees. This house is the place where the souvenirs of president Ton Duc Thang are preserved.
